Rowan Trelawney : Artist/Rider of Green Loriliqueth : Female Rowan

CHARACTER PROFILE
Name: Rowan Trelawney (Row)
Age: 23; early Spring
Gender: female
Distinguishing features: Her striking appearance, her flighty, imaginative personality and desire to be different
Hair Color: A bright, glossy orangy-red.
Eye Color: light blue
Description: Rowan is strikingly different than the rest of her family, and with good reason; she was adopted. She is conspicuously out of place amid the rest of her brown-haired, dark-eyed, pale-skinned adopted family. Her hair, rather than any of the various shades of brown that is almost a trademark for the Trelawneys, is a fiery, coppery orange-red. Her glossy hair is curly, but it's so long that the weight of it has pulled out most of the curls until her hair merely appears wavy. It's only in the shorter hair around her face that you see the curliness; she keeps the immediate hair around her face shorter, and so that part appears curly while the majority of her hair is wavy.

Startling light blue eyes join her redheadedness as evidence of her place as an oddity in her dark-featured family. These blue eyes are framed by long, dark lashes, and above them reside thin red eyebrows. Tanned skin holds a faint smattering of freckles. Rowan stands at about 5'7, and is of average weight for her height. She's long and slim, long legs making most of her height, with just enough fat on her bones to be considered slim rather than skinny. Rowan her a few scars from various accidents, and she's always getting more. She wouldn't be classified as 'beautiful', per se - striking is a better word for her.

Rowan has an interesting accent; living most of her life with an American family, she has taken on their way of talking, and, to an extent, their accent. But her Irish roots still show through in her voice; you can hear the Irish edge to her accent. And, interestingly enough, when she's angry, she sounds completely Irish.

Personality: Rowan has always been described as 'flighty'. She's a dreamer, a schemer, and a believer. Nothing's too hard; the sky is the limit. She believes that anything is possible if you set your mind to it, and she doesn't believe in giving up, either. If she sets her mind to something, she'll work hard to make sure it gets done.

Rowan is very creative. She's always had an overactive imagination, and was somewhat prone to daydreaming as a child. She still daydreams, and these days most of these dreams have to do with dragonriding. She will often talk about her daydreams to whoever is around her, if they don't mind listening. She has the useful ability to daydream but also keep part of her mind on whatever's going on around her, so she doesn't miss out. Another thing she daydreams about is the place where she was born, in an island off the coast of Ireland.

Every creative soul needs an outlet, and for Rowan it's art. Her fortes are drawing and sculpting/pottering. She draws or sculpts just about every free moment she has, and will hang them up or otherwise display them in her room. She trades them as well, to anyone who's interesting, or just gives them away as gifts sometimes. But many she makes just for fun, and keeps. Her most recent works have all been based on dragons of firelizards or dragonets.

Rowan is also somewhat into singing; she has a pretty, if somewhat average, voice, and likes to sing when she gets the chance; usually when she is alone, but she isn't afraid to sing in front of others if the mood takes her. On that note: Rowan is somewhat talkative, always willing to chat with anyone equally willing. She loves to bounce ideas for drawings on others if given the chance.

Rowan is somewhat unpredictable. She always just kind of does her own thing, feeling no need to be part of the group. Don't get the wrong idea; she's perfectly happy to makes friends and hang out with anyone and everyone. She loves to do so. Simply that she feels no drive to do what everyone else does, liking to do her own thing. She's an on-a-whim kind of person; if the mood takes her to do something, she goes along and does it.

There is one thing that Rowan strives to be: different. This is one girl that doesn't want to fit in and be like everyone else. What's the fun of that? She takes pride in being her own person, being different, and has always been proud of being set apart from her family. She refuses to be just a generic someone. She dislikes it when everyone is lumped together, believing everyone deserves their individuality. Especially her.

For the most part, Rowan is cheerful, easy-going and agreeable, but she does have a temper. As fiery as her hair, it can flare up if someone is being nasty. She gets angry if someone trashes her, her work, or her friends, or laughs at her and her dreams. She's not afraid to shout, call names, or, if it gets that far, even cause pain when she's in an argument. But usually it won't get that far. Still, don't mess with this girl. Her happy-go-lucky attitude hides a fiery temper. As an interesting point, she sounds very Irish when she's angry

It also hides an intelligent girl. Sometimes her bubbly-ness makes her seem somewhat shallow, but she really isn't. Not that she's a genius or anything; she's not - her grades back on Earth were always pretty average. But nevertheless she is intelligent, and she likes to question things - especially people's motives and thoughts. She likes to be able to understand people.

Rowan is also quite adventurous. She likes doing new things, exploring new ideas. Sometimes her fondness for adventure and something new lead her to being reckless, though. Contrary to her in-the-future type daydreams, a lot of the time, when not dreaming, Rowan doesn't look beyond the moment, and therefore doesn't think of the consequences of her actions.

History: Rowan was born in Ireland, and lived her earliest years there. She doesn't know how she ended up being put up for adoption; she can hardly remember anything about her time in Ireland. But she ended up being adopted by an American family, and from then on lived with them in the U.S.A.. Her life was a relatively good one, as she lived with her mother, father, and, later, younger brother Ayden. It was clear to everyone they met that Rowan couldn't possibly be related by blood to her dark-featured family; some were tactful enough not to mention it, some curious enough to ask. But Rowan never minded. She liked being different, not because she was self-centered, but because she liked to be set apart from the norm. And for her family, brown hair and dark eyes were the norm. She was the oddity.

Her Irish accent, more pronounced in her young life but slowly fading as she got older, also gave them an idea of where she was from. People would sometimes ask Rowan about Ireland, and it got her interested in her homeland. Rowan started researching the Emerald Isle, and got quite into it. This started her dreaming about going back to Ireland someday - but as she was still a kid, she knew she wouldn't be able to..not yet, anyway.

Rowan proved at a young age to be a very good artist. She loved to draw; nobody could make her go anywhere without her notepad to doodle on. She discovered a talent in pottery and sculpting when her art class in school had a clay project marathon.

Unfortunately for Rowan, her family wasn't that into traveling, which bugged Rowan. She'd see foreign places on television and want to go there; she wanted to explore the idea of anything new she saw. She even learned Italian after seeing an intriguing documentary about Venice. But in her 11 years of living on Earth, she never vacationed out of America (first couple of years in Ireland excluded).

Even though Rowan had a relatively good life in America, she and her foster mother didn't get along as well as one might hope. Sarah Trelawney was a very practical, down-to-earth scientist, whereas Rowan was a flighty, imaginative young girl. Sarah disapproved of Rowan's tendency to dream and fantasize, not being a very imaginative person herself. They often ended up at odds.

One of those times was over the newly discovered planet, Pern. Parallel Earth Resources Negotiable. Sarah was highly against the plan to colonize it; Rowan was infatuated with the idea of something as new and mysterious as a different planet, outside the Milky Way, with a different sun and everything. Rowan was eleven years old at the time. She and her foster mother had a furious fight over it. Rowan begged - demanded - to be allowed to go - with relatives ,with friends, with anyone. She'd never wanted anything so much as she wanted to go live on Pern. It was the most exciting thing that would happen. But her mother flatly forbade it. They got into a fight; both sides shouted, and in the end Rowan was sent to her room for the night without dinner.

In a fit of mutiny, Rowan packed her things and snuck away, to her nearby aunt's house. Her aunt and uncle were going to Pern, and agreed to let her come with them. Though of course, they did contact her parents - but they called her father, who, more sympathetic than her mother, did not tell Sarah until after they left - which was little more than a day afterwards. And suddenly Rowan was truly on her way to Pern, put into a deep sleep until they arrived. This meant that she did not get to experience the ride there as she had hoped to, but it was a small price to pay.

Arriving at Pern - settling in at Landing - discovering all the new and exciting things on Pern - it all passed in an exhilarating blur. Such a new place - it was everything Rowan had hoped for and more. Her excitement was dampened somewhat by guilt for leaving her foster family, who had been good to her despite their differences, but oftentimes it was hard to concentrate on that with so much else to think about. Pern was a paradise! The only sad thing, besides the abandonment of her family, was that she'd never get to go to Ireland, as she'd once hoped for. But again...it was a small price to pay. Pern held so much more...opportunity!

And it was so exciting to think that she, Rowan, would be one of the first ones on Pern - one of the ones who made future inhabitance possible! One of the ones that first set foot on Pern, that first discovered its fascinating mysteries!

For eight years, life on Pern was wonderful. In such a new place, there was no end to the wonderful, strange things Rowan encountered. This place was very much like Earth, true, but for someone that had hardly ever even ventured outside her own state in America, it was very exciting. And Rowan took to drawing most everything she could of Pern - mostly Landing, but also the area outside of it - and the wonderful animals called dragonets! Her skills as an artist flourished and grew, until she was, by 19 years old, making pieces fit to sell.

Until, 8 years after Landing, paradise was shattered. Silvery spores fell from the sky, raining death and destruction to Landing. Rowan's uncle, Rick, died from being scored by the terrible Thread. Everything changed, and suddenly life on Pern wasn't so great anymore. The enigmatic, parasitic Thread was something nobody had expected.

But on the bright side, Rowan managed to draw it.

When the Caldera was discovered, Rowan and her Aunt Melody were among the first to move their once it had been explored and excavated. Rowan was intrigued by the 'Dragon' project that was spoken of, and wanted to be near the action; Melody agreed. They lived there together....until Melody fell ill and died, leaving 20-year-old Rowan to fend for herself. She mourned for her aunt, but at least she knew how and was able to live by herself. And if she ever needed anything, it was easy enough to trade some of her work for it, be it sculpture or drawing.

Then the dragons were officially real, and not just fantasy. Real inside their eggs, anyway. And they started searching for people with the right attributes to be candidates for these eggs, to become the riders of the dragons inside. It was impossible. It was amazing. It was incredible. Rowan had to be a part of it. And she was, deemed worthy of candidacy. And so it was; she became a candidate. She did not Impress at the first clutch, but she was too amazed at the wonderful, perfect little pieces of art to be disappointed...much. And she's almost glad that she didn't Impress yet, anyway; though it would have been wonderful, wonderful, to be counted as part of the first dragonriders of Pern, she figured it was better to Impress at the second clutch anyway, when she, everyone, knew what to do.

Also, during her life at the Caldera, Rowan managed to Impress to a cute little green firelizard. Of course, the green fell asleep after being fed. Rowan was doing some pottery when the firelizard woke up; the green stuck one claw into the bottom of the bowl Rowan was shaping, giving it a deep swirl. And so Rowan named her Swirl.

Now, she and Swirl live at the Caldera, drawing and sculpting and waiting for the time to come when the second clutch hatches. And flying around chirping, on Swirl's part.

The second and third clutch hatched, neither of them yielding a dragon for her. But during the fourth hatching, she Impressed to one of the green sisters known commonly as "the trio" - green Loriliqueth.

Pets (limit of four) yes
Name: Swirl
Species: firelizard
Breed: green
Age: around 2 years
Description: Swirl is a pretty light green firelizard, with a sea-green stripe running from her muzzle, down her back, all the way to the tip of her tail. The strips is her only unusual feature; she has no swirls, contrary to her name, which came, not from a physical feature, but from something she did as a hatchling. She's small and long and fast.

Personality: This green has a sweet personality, and will let just about anyone stroke or feed her. She's very inquisitive, though, and will get into just about everything. She's protective of her owner, and has a bit of a jealous streak despite her sweetness.

DRAGON PROFILE
Name:Loriliqueth "Loril" (though she does not approve of the nickname)

Color:Green

Color Code: #25c174

Age: hatchling

Rider: Rowan Trelawney

Description: Loriliqueth is a pale teal colour; a bright contrast against her personality. She is skinny with an almost skeletal look to her. She is a little ghostly looking in her stilted way of walking; no there is nothing wrong with her. She is as healthy as the proverbial horse; she will just always be a little more on the creepy indimidating side of things. She will grow to 12ft long.

Basic Personality: Brooding; Rambling; Secretive [always found with and in cahoots with Eskaneth and Eveskineth; they shun Seliqueth. Loriliqueth hates bronzes.]

Detailed Personality: [coming soon]

Motto: 'Don't impound me, for I am not sane. My troubled ways will get the best of me. I can not be held accountable for my actions, no lunatic should.'

Hatching Scene:
It seemed that despite where they had all started three eggs; the Tube Worm Egg, the Seaweed Egg and the Clown Fish Egg had all rolled together in some sort of cahoots. Leaning against each other the trio seemed to shudder and shake almost like they were apart of an eerie ritual. It was truly a rather creepy image for one to watch and though they never did anything but rock against each other some would swear they saw them dancing around each other rocking. In the emptiness of the cavern it only seemed even more frightening to watch happen as in unison the same leg burst from each shell.

The tail followed each mimicking the other perfectly as they cracked from their shells; finally they were all free after what appeared to be a rather creepy hatching. In unison they turned their piercing eyes towards the candidates. Each as different as the last in appearance but is seemed they were all almost identical in terms of the personality they were displaying. They watched the candidates for some long time; staring at them all intently almost like a hawk would watch it's prey. Finally one stepped forwards; the one who stood amongst the middle of them. She was of a teal shade and looked rather skeletal though one would say that was to be expected from hatching from the smallest egg of a wounded queen. She was the first to reach out towards the minds of the candidates with a chilling touch before finally she settled on one.

'No!..No no no.. oh why must the shiney thing watch; choking flames; blinding smoke.. Why Why why... pain; much pain; no relief.. Need Rowan.. Rowan is such a good girl.. such a pretty girl.. No NO... they mustn't go.. they must stay; must watch.. watch sisters.. must stay..'
