Description: Tall. Karl tops out at roughly 6’5”, often forced into ducking when he walks through doorways and the like. His physique is lean and toned, with long limbs. His complexion is darkly tanned from frequent sun exposure and his hands are rough and calloused from his occupation. Karl’s hair is various shades of sun-streaked blonde and is just long enough to be brushed out of his eyes on occasion. Said eyes are a light green framed by light lashes. His jaw is sharp, his nose long and his cheekbones high. Unfortunately he’s had his nose broken once and therefore its permanently crooked. He has a tentative smile and one slightly chipped tooth.

Personality: More or less on the quiet side, Karl keeps to himself. His affairs are only of consequence to him and personal matters are not spoken freely of. He’s soft-spoken and taciturn, a bit out of place in large gatherings, but even more so one on one. He does his best to be friendly but is still a private individual. Karl has a strong sense of dedication and submits himself completely to projects that need to be done, feeling only at ease when one project ends and another can begin. Despite his quiet nature, the carpenter has an adventurous side that leads him to wander the wilderness, enjoying camping, hiking and any form of physical exercise or new sensations. He tends to channel his anger and other emotions in large bursts, rather than overtime. He often gives in to impulse rather than logic, which can be beneficial or detrimental. He looks for outlets of his energy, such as his outdoor sports, however sometimes his hunt for excitement leads him where those who only partially know the quiet wood-worker would be surprised to hear.

History: Karl came to Pern to be of use, knowing his skills as a carpenter and mason would be welcomed in the new colony. He left behind a large extended family for the opportunity to start something new, knowing the expedition would test him; however, he didn’t know how much. Only 18 when the colonists landed, the youth was forced to grow up quickly. It suited him just fine knowing few of the other travelers, never bothered by solitude. He gave his services and joined one of the many construction crews for suitable living. He felt a great personal pride in helping lay the foundations for the new planet, but when the first rain of Thread fell, he watched in horror as structured shriveled to nothingness before his eyes. Luckily he escaped unharmed from the first Fall, though from then on ventured to strengthen his masonry skills from proficient to exemplary.

Description: Donner is a tall and elegant dog with long limbs, gracefully arched back and long muzzle. His hair is long and well-kempt, light cream with light orange splotches over his back, ears and head.

Personality: A playful, spirited creature, Donner will get on well with anyone willing to play fetch or let him crawl into their lap (despite his lanky, tall size). He’s a very gentle creature, unless you’re a small mammal. He’s well trained and obeys commands, though is prone to be more independent than other breeds.
