Description: Average height for a six year old, Mahina is at that point between being adorably padded with baby fat and a mini-adult look alike. She is very similar in looks to her mother, though her face is more oval shaped and her nose is a little wider. Mina's hair is also a tad lighter than her mother's.

Personality: Just like any 6 year old, Mahina is intrigued by her surroundings. She loves to explore and learn new things. To this little girl, every day is an adventure just waiting to find her. All in all, Mahina is a generally good natured child.

She's curious and adventurous, sometimes getting under peoples' feet. Generally obedient, she loves her mother and will do what Alika tells her. At the moment she has changed some, affected by her father's death. While grieving, she is less sociable and wants to stay inside. She has nightmares and trouble sleeping, and is constantly anxious. The prospect of a little brother makes her excited, however.

History: Five years after landing on Pern and getting married, Alika and her husband were ready to expand their family by one. In mid-Autumn of the first year they had started trying to have a child, Alika gave birth to a baby girl. At first she wouldn't cry when she was born, because she was a little blue from having her umbilical cord wrapped around her neck. Within minutes she was fine and crying. After discussing it, the happy parents decided to name their first child in memory of Alika's deceased mother, Malakina, choosing the name Mahina, 'moon', as a fitting token of remembrance. The first five years of Mahina's life have thus far been quite happy and exciting, with very little to disturb her joy.

However, during the deep winter of 11AL there was a terrible blizzard that took the life of Mahina's father. To add to the tragedy, Alika also found out she was pregnant with Akamu's child around that time. It was a hard time for the broken family, and the death of her father affected Mina greatly, but she looks forward to seeing her little brother.
