Description: Pascal is a tall, lanky man in his late twenties and often sports a few days of facial growth. His shoulder length, poorly trimmed hair is often tied back when working. At work he is usually clad sleeveless behind a leather apron; otherwise he is usually well prepared for the weather and garbed in a much repaired flight jacket, often bearing an baby sling with similarly bundled twin boys in erratic orbit. His demeanor is patient and observant, characteristics most apparent when in the company of the young children in his company.

Personality: At work, he is the strong silent type---a man more comfortable with actions then words. Smiles are few and he prefers to spend his energies on getting to business rather than cavorting. At home he is another person entirely. Gregarious and warm, he revels and even joins in the antics of his adventurous twin boys as well as catering lovingly to the needs of his high maintenance baby daughter. Pascal is even playful with his teen-aged sister-in-law, “Auntie Roo” who helps in the raising of his wee bairn. A widower, Pascal McGinty puts his children above all else and is reluctant to pursue any romantic entanglements that might confuse his children and, in turn, make him guilty for betraying the memory of his wife, passed away two mid-winters past.

History: Only child of Pernese Colonists Hammond and Beatrice McGinty, an Engineer and Artist, respectively, Pascal was trained as a machinist before coming to Pern. Despite his vocational training, the young McGinty enlisted as a licensed Sled Pilot to increase his benefit as a colonist of Pern, at only 17.

Shortly after arriving as a Colonist, while serving as a Sled Pilot, he encountered, and fell into a difficult courtship with his wife-to-be Virika Singh. She was a courageous medic five years his senior, who finally succumbed to the younger McGinty’s charm after nearly 3 years of persistence. “The course of true love never did run smooth,” would be come his mantra as their marriage was no less serene. After giving birth two twin boys, Castor Luv and Pollux Kusha both 8 years of age by late this last summer, the McGinty’s domestic turbulence calmed in deference to their role as parents.

While their families where both devastated by the unexpected Threadfall, Virika Roopa’s younger sister survived and moved in with the surviving Singh-McGintys. A fews after Thread first fell, Virika was once again blessed with a child, though this was to prove part curse as well. She discovered her own life would be put at risk if she carried the child to term and so kept her pregnancy secret from Pascal until there’s was no turning back.

The betrayal rocked Pascal to his core, though he stood bravely by his beloved’s side as she quickly wasted away and she prepared their small family for her eventual passing. They agreed to name their daughter Beatrice Prisha after each of their mothers. Virika passed away shortly after little Prisha’s birth.

Professionally, in the years since arriving on Pern, Pascal had watched his high tech machinist skills become more and more anachronistic as he is forced toward to adapt his training to a low tech metalsmithing. Once trained to use blueprints and in basic engineering, Pascal now shoes horses, fixes pots and even helps with repairing the simple machines and plumbing that Pern depends upon. He also laments the pilot’s career he was once so excited on embracing and the numbered days remaining for Pern’s remaining Sleds.

Pets The McGinty household has no pets though the twins constantly whine for one.

Sled pilot McGinty became a Sled Pilot right before leaving for Pern. Lamenting the pending demise of the remaining Sleds, he's focused his talents on Smithing though stands ready if called upon for Pilot Service. He still treasures his flight jacket and remembers the early years of colonization fondly when his piloting duties provided oppurtunities to woo the reluctant Virika Singh. One of the youngest Pilots he stepped down voluntarily in favor of those with greater seniority.
