Regarding Member Resignations/Abandonment...

I know we had hit rough patch when Jen had quit on us just after her Miguel Valiente Impressed on Blue Tarath. I'm just glad that we were able to fix the problem with the help of Ridayah, who plays Deran Wallace who is now Impressed to Blue Tarath. Now, I suggest that should something like that happen again, that the characters who have been played by the member who wants to resign CANNOT be deleted as requested but rather become NPCs that get killed off after a time. That way, we won't have the same problem that we did with Jen. We probably should say something about that in the Rules if the Members that we now have agree to this. Same with Members not logging in after four RL months or 1 IC year, their characters become NPCs that get killed off after a time. Unless of course that Member warned us ahead of time that they'll be gone for more that four RL months then their characters are safe. ^_^

What does everyone think about this rule addition?

Personally I think it a very wise rule, except potentially altering it that those riders be put up for adoption for a short while until they are finally killed off if not adopted. My two cents Smile

I agree this is a very good idea indeed. I also think it's a good idea to put the charries of people that leave up for adoption for a short time before killing them off.

Hmm... having the Rider characters become NPC Adoptables are a good idea and then just having them killed off at a later date. That's probably for the best. *nods*

Iski-sama, what do you think of this? And does anyone else have a different opinion or solution to offer with regards to abandoned characters or members leaving the site?

I hate to say this.. But even if people are nasty and leave like that. We have no right to adopt their characters out, unless that character was adopted by them in the first place.

Just because they treated us wrong doesn't mean we should react the same way...

So unless it was a previous adoptable, the character will fall folly to an evil scheme of mine.. ^.^ as everyone knows I love to kill off characters.

It's not out intent to bully people into staying either.. So I propose we give them a 1 month suspension period and if they aren't back in that time.. [making a total of 5 months inactivity which should be more than enough time to give us warning] the characters will die. If they do come back, then their characters will be returned, however this is a one off deal and the next time it happens they won't get the 1 month suspension period.

This is a place for fun. where people can come and go as life allows them to. Yes we all hate people disappearing without word, I know I was once one of those people. But instilling harsh rules in a place that is meant to be relaxed is not something I want.

Well, I kind of agree in that if someone randomly abandons without a word, then after that time frame their characters are killed off somehow...but my question is, what if someone is forced to leave for that time frame or longer on multiple occasions? I bring this up because it happened to me in the past, long before I was on Weyrs like this one of course, but the chance is still there...I think that the suspension period should be there every time it happens, just in case that happens to become a recurring thing with someone, but only if they have valid reasons for it.

Though I do agree with Iski. I think that if someone leaves the site, their characters should not become adoptables unless they were previously, since I see characters as an extension of oneself...and if the person who played that character is no longer there, then in a way I see putting that character out as an adoptable as a sort of insult to the person who originally made that character. I think that those original characters should be killed off or something similar...and that's my piece.
