Golden Beauties Old and New [Flit & Dragonet Hatching]

IC Time: Month 9 Late Winter.
IC Setting: Beside the fireplace there are two long baskets filled with sand, one basket contains nine eggs and the other six. Mikhael and Arturius are both standing watch over the eggs.

It had been a month since the riders from the future had come and everyone was finally settling into their existence around the Caldera.. or Weyr as the older riders were calling it. It was a name that was starting to grow on them and the place had been dubbed by the future riders as 'Caldera Weyr' a combination of both old and new they reckoned. It was the evening and it was nice and warm by the fire just after the evening meal had finished. The Kitchen staff were clearing away the mess of dinner and Mikhael was enjoying a steaming mug of Klah keeping a gentle eye over the eggs by the fire.

Lulu was suitably curled up and fussing over her six small eggs, beside her there was the presence of a bronze tending to the other nine. The old and the new they were, Lulu was the first queen of the firelizards and her bronze companion on of the dragonets they had come from.

The owner it seemed of the bronze dragonet was lounged in a chair opposite and fast asleep, what was once a steaming mug of klah now sat beside the chair long since cooled down. Mikhael recognised the man as Arturius a rider from the second clutch he had impressed a bronze like him. Though it appeared that days drills had worn the man out that and the younger riders had taken their first manned flight today under the watch of Mikhael and the future riders..

There was a shudder from on of the eggs and a hum from Lulu which made Mikhael push himself up into his seat. Indicating for one of the kitchen staff to come, he asked for meat and the word to be spread. Zharath already helping in that regard as the woman hurried off excitedly.. Now Mikhael just sat and waited, he'd let Arturius sleep a little more.. as it seemed not even the humming of his bronze could wake him and an egg from that clutch began to shiver too..


Lulu X Juergy

Corroded Brass Egg - Gold Acetyline to Jase
A Dark Brassy Gold the shell of this glorious queen egg has barely any luster like other gold eggs, but instead takes on the rough hewn surface of corroded brass as the name of this egg suggests.

Burnished Copper Egg - Green Cat to Adrienne
The dark burnished rippling surface of this egg, makes a mystery, what colour shall emerge from this wonderful copper shaded egg.

Night and Day Egg - Brown Lancelot to Arturius
This egg looks to be apart of both night and day, one side shrouded in light while the other lays in darkness.

Forest's Shield Egg - Green Flop to Adele
Yes this egg looks like a grenade, but no it is not one, no where near one. It is the Forest's Shield egg, a large forest of many green and brown colours, sheltered by a large steel cage that wraps around the egg protecting it, but from what. The steel cage looks intimidating as if warding off any unwanted attention, but this egg can't help but be noticed with it's unusual pattern.

Once in a Blue Moon Egg - Bronze Static to Keith
Bluish, silvery moon like surface, the once in a blue moon egg makes you wonder, or speculate about the future and how many chances one gets in a lifetime..

Red Star Egg - Blue Glory to CJ
There is something chilling and uncanny about the resemblance of this egg to the Red Star. It’s eerie in it’s identical colouring and appearance.


Jyluu X Myrddin

Double Sided Penny Egg - Bronze Bracken to N'nyk
This egg is a swirling mass of gold and silvers and odd browns and whites, on one side it shines a bit like a polished mark would, on the other side it’s as dull as a worn mark. kind of like the double sided pennies on old earth used for tricks, one is shiny the other dull an worn, it seems like this egg has two personalities only thing is will this split personality carry on to the dragon within the egg.

Golden Fields Egg - Gold Melody to Ulysses
Out of Jyluu’s clutch this one resembles her most in colouring, with its pale golden highlights over milky white this egg has softness and such an allure to most it’s hard to stop yourself from looking at this pretty egg. It also had cause many to make bets on what will hatch out of this egg, a very lucky egg indeed to the person who gets it right.

Tarnished Brass - Green Immy to Mahina
The smallest of the nine eggs many are sure this one houses green, from the colour. It’s the small green colour as copper when it rusts, with hints of brass tarnish swirled in somewhere on the shell which does look rather rough to touch despite its smooth unblemished surface.

Glow Egg - Green Raimu to Ayana
Luminescent and white, this egg seems to have a light of its own and glows in the dark due to its brightness. Its sheer size is another thing, it’s bigger than all the other eggs and seems almost like a beacon above them all unwavering and protective. Most don’t stare at this egg too long as it’s brightness does hurt eyes after a while though it is rather pretty at night.

Muddled Thoughts Egg - Green Shinrin to Max
The Weirdest egg, the way the patterns move across it, this eggs seems disjointed and rather, well not well. It’s Dark brown splashed with grey and an aging bronze tan doesn’t seem healthy the way the colours slash across the egg and make it seem not quite whole or partly whole in anyway. Those who get to close and the egg seems to pulse menacingly though we all know that eggs don’t pulse or move until hatching time.

Pebble Egg - Green Arikyu to Tiaholt
The Pebble Egg is a rather plain uniform beige, there isn’t really anything special about this egg, apart from maybe it’s pebbled surface and the rather plain uniform colour about it. It’s the peasants egg, the egg of the lower class with it’s uniform colouring and plain appearance it seems as if there isn’t anything special about this egg and never will be.

Pyrite Egg - Blue Kiddo to Aria
The egg people mostly gravitate too. After all Jyluu was caught by a bronze so there should be a bronze in the clutch. If so this egg would be it, with it’s richly shaded browns, bronzes and slight goldish tinge to the shell. This egg sparkles an not just on the outside, it seems to carry a regal air about it, like a queen though of course it couldn’t be a queen egg it’s not gold enough many argue. However it doesn’t stop the egg from having a regal and commanding air about it, this though is what makes most speculate what colour is hidden within this egg.

Bespeckled Moss Egg - Brown Akamu to Alika
This egg looks like it’s a rock entirely cover in a multi hued green moss. So very soft, many almost want to hug it, but then stop when it is remembered it's an egg. As to what it will contain beneath it's mossy shell one is definitely not sure..

Mystery Puzzle Egg - Blue Zephyr to D'lor
Like a giant puzzle this egg sits closer to the queen egg than any other, it's strange surface similar to that of a puzzle box a master carver might make as a child’s toy. With it's intricate design, but this egg looks glass like, like it's made out of the blackest most lustrous glass. Reaching out to touch it, the shell will be found warm and smooth not anything like the texture the pattern beholds. This egg really is a puzzle, as none know what's within this eggs shell. So this egg will remain the mystery puzzle egg until the hatching comes and the mystery is revealed.




[These are the eggs of both of them.. Just post.. and I guess I'll figure something out on how they choose.. ^.^ Just remember to tell me if you want a flit egg or a dragonet egg..]

Even though it had been a month since they had arrived here N'nyk still wasn't completely use to this past life he was living in. For one thing the clothes they wore was so odd compared to theirs. For another he could not for the life of him understand some of their words. In fairness though they didn't understand some of their either.

'You seem distracted, friend.' Sylonth said a bit worried for his rider.

'Nah, I'm fine. Just still adjusting to all...this. Nothing to worry about, I promise. Think I'm going to get something to eat though. Be back in a bit.' N'nyk replied, heading towards the kitchen at a fast paced walk.

Once there he noticed something was going on by the fireplace. There was the sound of humming and N'nyk instantly knew that meant a hatching was happening. Closer inspection of the fireplace showed him two sets of eggs by the fire. A small smile crossed his face and he forgot about his food to go over and get a better look. The two men there he recognized but had not spoken to for a long length of time. "Hey, guys. Got a small hatching going on?" He asked in a friendly tone.

Mikhael looked up with a smile at N'nyk; it was a warm and welcoming one for the man. It was nice having older riders around with more experience he could glean and learn from. Though it was weird having them look up to him as a leader; well it was what they called him. Though it still felt weird..

Before he had a chance to say anything though the Double sided penny egg from Jyluu's clutch gave a shuddering crack and all but flying from the egg to cling to N'nyk's chest was a bronze. Who's eye's whirled rapidly as his little claws tightened instinctively to keep him to the chest of the man he had chosen.





There was a chuckle from Mikhael as he held out a plate of meat to N'nyk.. Offering it sincerely with another laugh and some friendly words.

"I think this will be the only way you'll manage to pry him from you."

N'nyk was not at all prepared to be assaulted by a little baby dragonet as he crossed the distance from where he was to the clutches. A bronze blur flew through the air and clung to his chest with it's sharp little claws.

"Oh jeez." He said prying the angry and frustrated little bronze off of his chest.

'What?! What is it?' Sylonth asked excitedly.

'I think we just got a new friend. A little bronze dragonet, I think that's what he is anyways.' N'nyk answered his blue.

'Oh. That's nice. As long as he is not annoying.'

'Don't worry, I doubt he'll be too much of a bother.' N'nyk assured him. "Thank you so much." He said taking the food from Mikhael. He was indeed right. The bronze wouldn't fully let go until he saw the food being offered to him. "Not exactly what I came here for, but not entirely unpleasant either. Think I'll just sit here and feed this little guy." He said taking a seat. He'd have to name the bronze. "Hm. What do you think of the name Bracken?" The bronze kept on eating. "Good Bracken it will be then."

Alika caressed her daughter's hair as the six year old finished up her soup, licking the broth off of her small fingers. It had been two months since her husband had died, coincidentally around the same time as the riders from the second pass had arrived. And they were two very hard months to get through, especially the first few weeks. However, the dedicated mother had been able to get through it almost entirely because of her daughter Mahina.

Turning towards the rest of the dining hall, Alika's scientist eyes quickly caught on to the hatching going on by the fireside. As usual for the little girl, once Mahina noticed the dragons and that one of the future riders had gotten a bronze dragonet attached to his chest, she hopped up and pulled her mother towards the fireside. As they approached, Alika smiled at Mikhael. He'd been a good candidate and was a good individual and rider.

"Aren't these beauties so stunning!" Ali exclaimed, awed by the amazing patterns and colors of the eggs from both clutches. Keeping one hand on Mahina's slim shoulder to keep the little girl close while her other hand stretched out towards the dragonet eggs. She'd had intimate experience with them when she'd been helping to genetically engineer the dragons. "Greetings, sweet Myrddin," she said softly, amused by the bronze's owner sleeping soundly in his chair. "And how are you this morning, Mikhael?" Alika asked, courteously glancing at N'nyk and extending the same query. "And you, N'nyk?"

"As well as can be Alika. Arturius is out; I doubt any of us could wake him."

Mikhael commented as another of Jyluu's clutch wobbled; it was the bespeckled moss egg that was to rock this time. It rocked and rolled and finally cracks appeared in it. Taking another bowl of meat he handed it to Alika with a smile; perhaps a companion like a dragonet would help her in her grieving for her husband. He had known the man quite well and was also aggrieved to hear of his death during the blizzard. They had lost some riders too; good riders in his eyes during that long blizzard too. It would not be something they easily forgot either.

"Here it can't hurt to try."

He said offering the bowl forward as a brown figure slid from the egg and making a flying leap caught the corner of the bowl, diving in under the meat he curled in it and around it.. happy as a pig in mud one would say. Mikhael smothering another laugh as he held the bowl steady for Alika.

Letting her spoon clatter into the empty bowl, Mahina accepted her mother's fond fingers in her hair eagerly, leaning into the motion. It had been a difficult time for both of them since the big blizzard, and she knew that her mother still hurt. Alika had cried so much at first, and even now Mahina caught her sometimes, staring at nothing and looking more sad than Mina ever wanted Mommy to feel. But then the woman would catch sight of her daughter, and smile, and beckon her close for a hug, and Mahina would clamber into her mothers' arms feeling proud, because she knew that she had the strongest Mommy in the world. She knew losing Daddy made Mommy very sad. It was hard for Mahina as well. So, so har to remember each day that he wouldn't be there to pick her up and twirl her around, or ruffle her hair, which she only allowed him to do and nobody else, or kiss her forehead and tell her how good she was and how big she was getting...It made her want to cry every time.

Mahina had seen her mother's strength though, and she was determined that she'd be just as strong as Mommy, and then she'd be proud of her. Even without Daddy to help them, they could still live. The world hadn't ended ,though Mina thought surely it would the day she'd heard it. It hadn't, and so she wouldn't end with it. At first she'd let herself cry, but nowadays whenever her eyes prickled hotly, she wiped them and cleared her throat and thought of something happy. Like the snow that was perfect for playing in when she was allowed, and the shimmer of dragons in the sky, and the soft way her mother caressed her hair, and the warmth of the soup filling her up...

There were noises from behind them, and she felt her mother shifting. Curious, Mahina looked around, and her eyes widened in delight: eggs, eggs that had to belong to flitters or dragonets! And one of those other riders, with a baby on his chest! She remembered when she'd played with that girl, that younger girl, what was her name? Adele! Adele had a firelizard, and Mahina really wanted one. Instantly she was up, tugging at her mother's arm, leading her to the fireplace. There were lots of eggs there!

She wanted to run right up to them, but once they got close her mother's hand on her shoulder held her back. Mahina complied, shifting her feet impatiently while Alika talked. "Mommy!" she finally pressed, unable to stop herself. "Can I get one, can I? Please?"

Then suddenly one of the bigger eggs - the dragonet eggs - wobbled and rolled, and broke apart, and something brown shot out of it - right to Alika, landing in her bowl of meat! "You Impressed one!" Mahina exclaimed in delight an, impressed. "Whatcha gonna name him? He's brown like mud, not blue like Adele's. Brown like my soup!"

"Spring just told me the news." Ayana said as she stummbled in. She had not gotten much sleep lately and she wanted to go to bed early but Spring made that impossible.

"I guess I could use some cheering up, plus maybe a friend would make it so that you can sleep at night." Ayana commented to herself and then gave Spring one of those looks that meant Ayana was only being playful. Maybe this would prove that she could still impress after all.

"So there are dragonets and firelizards." Ayana was now talking to herself. Which one did she want?

Their voices were heard long before either were seen, and within a few moments Adrienne and D'lor entered the Dining Cavern. The older bronze rider was teasing her mercilessly about her relationship with Mikhael, and the gold rider's face was flushed and her eyes glittering in growing anger. D'lor was having nothing but fun, though, as he continued prodding her. Rella, his gold, sat perched atop his shoulder, hissing in annoyance at Adrienne, and around her neck was curled Lynx, the bronze snapping back at the gold who dared make angry noises at His.

"So, Addy... "

"Shells, Dlor. If you call me Addy one more time..."

"Fine, fine... Lady Adrienne-"

He smirked, knowing that would draw an even angrier reaction.

"DAMN IT, D'lor. Just... don't talk to me."

Adrienne looked about the room as they entered and caught Mikhael's eyes, her own begging for... permission?

"Ah, but Lady Adrienne... You're just too pretty for me to leave you alone..."

She stopped and jerked back like she was going to back-hand him, but then, with a ruffled sigh, moved on forwards, weaving roughly through the tables until she reached her weyrmate's side. Purposely taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes briefly before asking, "Lulu's eggs, eh?" Glancing down at the gold queen, she murmured, "Nice job, darlin'."

D'lor finally reached them then and, after nodding his head to Mikhael and the others, he commented, "Dragonet and flit eggs..." Rella, on his shoulder, crouched low, bending into his neck and eyeing Lulu warily, with a contemptuous glance.

"Thank you, Captain Obvious."

"Testy there, are we, Addy?"

"SHUT UP, D'lor."

"As you wish."

There was a tuggin at Mahina's pants; it seemed in her distraction a green had slipped from the tarnished brass egg and flopped her way onto the floor. She seemed to be a rather round thing what for being newly hatched and all. One could almost call her fat for she certainly carried more weight than one should. She tugged again with a plaintive creel.. oh why wasn't this person paying attention to her.

For Ayana the Glow egg rocked as she came closer, it's near white shell glowing and pulsating and one could almost swear they could see the dragonet moving within. With a wiggle and a twist a back foot came free a rather lime shaded foot that twisted back and tipping the egg up pushed another foot out so that it was now two feet and an upright egg. With a shudder and a shake the rest of the egg finally came free and the rather large green as it now was seen sat there contemplating for a moment before in a lightning move she flapped her wet wings and dove for Ayana's hair, twisting herself in it with a hiss.

Seeing Addy finally reach his side Mikhael reached out and pulled her from her stance by his side and into his lap on the seat he sat on by the fire and eggs. Reaching out he took the egg Lulu had rolled towards him and dropped it into Addy's lap with a bowl of meat. It was the Burnished copper egg and it swayed in her lap a tail coming out first through the top of the egg followed by a precious little bum and two hind legs. Suddenly the egg tipped up the other way and shattered open leaving a very wet little green staring plaintively up at Adrienne.



For D'lor it seemed he already had a pround new friend sitting on the shoulder opposite Rella. Puffing out his little chest in pride, it took Mikhael a few moments to realise that the blue had come from the Mystery Puzzle Egg from Jyluu's clutch. He really did seem like quite the dashing fellow and with a sudden laugh Mikhael realised in his stance on the rider's shoulder all he was missing was wind and a scarf to flutter out behind him like some daring explorer.

Ulysses

Ulysses had been straying around the dining cavern. It had been a long day; he had been finally able to spend some more time working on instruments and had put it to good use, constructing not one but two guitars out of local woods. He felt he'd earned the hearty breakfast and was now seeing who just might want one of the new instruments.

With a glass of wine in his hand, he strolled back and forth between tables, chatting amicably here and there. At one point he spoke with the General, but that elder gentleman he knew would never take one.

It didn't take too long for Ulysses to notice the small knot of people gathered by the fireplace. Wine still in hand, he wandered on over. The din of conversations came to his ears and he tried identifying all those present. Two appeared to be riders from the future... a bronze and blue rider, if he was not mistaken. Another was a young woman, Alika, and her daughter whose name completely escaped him. There were a few others whose names he could not gather, and then...

Eggs. Oh, my. He realized what was going on, and decided to slip in next to Alika. "Hello everyone," he said cheerfully. "So, who are the proud pseudoparents here?" he said with a smile.

Adele

Adele was busy playing under the table that her daddy was eating supper at. Now that his dragon was flying, he spent a lot more time in training and Adele was spending a lot more time in the care of the other ladies working in the dining caverns. So as such she had prettymuch free reign wandering around in the spacious area.

In her hands was a coloring book, and before her was Bahn, whom she was attempting to draw. It was typical of a childish result to look almost nothing like what she was drawing, but the young girl was very happy with the result, and showed it to the flit. "See Bahn, its you!" she said happily.

The blue's attention was not on the little girl however, but looking over at the hearth. His throat had a faint humming to it, and with a glance at Adele, he rose, walked out from under the table, and took wing.

"H-hey!" Adele squealed, as she grabbed her sketchbook and crayons, crawling out from under the table. "Yer not supposed to do that!" She half-ran after him once she got up off the floor, heading across the caverns after him.

"Bad Bahn! Daddy said you stay with... me..."

Adele's scoldings trailed off as she wandered between the legs of the adults by the fire. Bahn had flown to the mantlepiece and was sitting up there, crooning and humming softly and she now saw why. There were eggs! She remembered how other flits and dragons had hummed when Bahn hatched, and her mind quickly put two and two together. "Ooooh!" She said excitedly, tugging on Mikhael's arm. "Are they hatching? Are they?"

CJ

It had been a long day for the bluerider. That morning had been a particularly long feeding and then scrubdown for Jareth, followed by working in the sheds on the sleds there. Many of them needed help, now that some of the mechanics had impressed or were out for whatever personal reasons the need to have things fixed was becoming critical, and CJ knew he should help out as much as possible.

A glance beside him at Jase made him feel not nearly so tired, however. The green rider beside him had been working a lot harder. Ever since those future riders had shown up with their 'vaccine' and word of a plague anyone trained in medical work was putting in lots of overtime, on helping to prepare. Jase was right in the thick of that because of his training, and was often so exhausted, putting himself out there for others.

The two of them had been sitting fairly near the fire, so when people started gathering and the humming began, he did not miss it. He especially did not miss both Yeller and Josiah getting up from a half finished meal at the table and looking over, starting to hum themselves!

CJ twisted his head around to look. Well, there were a fair number of eggs... and not nearly so many people around them yet. Maybe...

A thought hatched in his head. It would be great too for Jase, who could use something to keep him distracted and company, when he could not have Rikath right at his side. "Jase," the bluerider said after a moment, "Looks like there's a hatching going on. Why don't we go over and see if you can impress one? You've been working yourself to the bone, and if anyone deserves one, it's you." He reinforced this with a soft mindcall to Rikath, whom he had recently started hearing. Rikath... what do you say, help me out? Jase should get a little flit like Yeller and Josiah, there is a hatching going on. And a flit could help you scratch your back when Jase is busy, he added, to help entice her to convince her rider to come with him. "Come on," he said, standing up and turning towards the eggs. Yeller and Josiah took off at this, winging over and still humming.

It was the Golden Fields egg that shuddered and shook next. It seemed in regal grace to slide open like one pushing the wheat aside to walk through it. Held within it was a dark figure of darkened wheat; with a trill she stepped forwards and with a hum flapped her wings wetly. Her eyes fell on Ulysses and moving towards the edge of the sand box she trilled a melody to him extending her forepaw towards him imploring him to reach out for her too..

At the tug on his shoulder Mikhael looked down and smiled for Adele. She was John's daughter; he had known him several years before they had both impressed in the same hatching. There was another chirp from Lulu and she rolled another egg towards Mikhael. Reaching out Mikhael asked with his eyes if she was sure, there was another nudge from Lulu and Mikhael gave in, picking up the egg he handed it to Adele.

"Yes they're hatching sweets and Lulu wants you to have this one."

It was the forest's shield egg and Mikhael couldn't get over it's resemblence to a grenade and he almost at once regretted giving it to Adele however a sharp chirp from Lulu prevented him from reaching forwards and taking it back. It was momentarily after that thought that the egg shattered open leaving a very wet and goopy green in the little girls hands.

Jase was about to say no when a nudging from Rikath stopped him. How could he say no to his green companion; especially when he loved her so much and she loved him just the same. With a sigh he gave in; a sympathetic smile for Arturius as he snored loudly away seemingly oblivious to the whole thing. Moving closer he caught Lulu's attention who chirped and rolled an egg quickly towards him much to his amazement that she wished him to have one of her eggs so readily. It was the corroded brass egg that seemed to shatter into his hand the moment he touched it, the most darling gold staring up at him with wide eyes. She didn't open her mouth she just stared at him and as he scooped her up into his hands she continued to watch him with adoration.



In pure joy it seemed Jase turned around with the little gold in his hands still stunned at what he had managed to impress. He didn't miss however the blue scuttling up CJ's leg in a hurried manner which only served to make him laugh. The little gold in his hand cocking her head to the noise in curiousity.

"Looks like someone doesn't want you getting away without anything either."

He remarked as the blue now clinging from CJ's chest gave a creel of hunger. It didn't take long for one to figure out he had come from the Red Star Egg.



It seemed to go unoticed to everyone until there was a yell of pain and a string of curses from Arturius who was suddenly up and awake in his chair. A little brown thing held out by what seemed to be the way one would take a puppy by the scruff of it's neck. It seemed the little creature knew how to pull the same look too. The little monster had come from the Night and Day egg and feeling quite mischevious spotted the sleeping Arturius and in a leap that missed his leg and landed him on the floor began to scuttle up the mans leg. His teeth biting into a most sensetive area as he slipped clambering across the man's thighs. Arturius glared at the little thing for several moment before finally retiring and feeding the little thing on his lap.





[Footnote: All of Jyluu's babies are infertile.. This is the last Dragonet hatching ever.]

Ulysses

Ulysses was looking around at those whom had just impressed, smiling and raising his wine glass when he felt something unusual, much like when he had impressed Thud. He turned and looked where it seemed to be that it wanted him to look, and he saw a little gold dragonet reaching out towards him, humming in a little tune.

"Oh my..." his mind said taking in the implications quickly, and he strode over. He only took a moment to set the wineglass down on the mantle, away from the little flits lined up there before he reached down and picked up the gold. "Well aren't you just adorable.... and singing already!" He beamed at her and around.

Of course, hunger started up the moment he picked her up, and using his free arm he reached out and snagged one of the bowls of meat. Deftly popping pieces into her maw, he said, "You are a singer, and I an instrument maker. I think... I will call you Melody."

Adele

Adele's eyes went wide as the man, as he responded, put the forested looking egg in her hands. She let out the most high pitched girlish squeal, a squeal which ended when the little green burst out of her shell. "Really? She's mine?!" She said, looking from the green to Mikhael to Lulu and back. She settled down on the floor right there, putting the green in her lap.

"Oooh... Flop is hungry!" the little girl decided for a name on the spot, given the way the green had just fallen out of the shell into her hands. She looked up at the adults. "Can someone help me get her not hungry?" Adele said, her mind now distracted more by Flop's hunger.

As he led Jase over CJ had to smile. And of course he grinned even wider once Lulu rolled an egg to him. But he had barely a moment to recognize it was larger than the others before it hatched in his partner's hands, leaving.... a gold! He blinked and then grinned, pulling Jase into a quick hug. "Congratulations Jase, you got a queen!" he whispered to the greenrider eagerly. "What are you going to name her?"

His happiness for Jase kept him distracted until he felt little sharp claws pierce his shirt, and his chest. With a wince he looked down. "I... what?" He blinked. "You chose me?"

The blue responded by creeling his hunger and digging the claws in a bit tighter. Then he scrambled up and pressed his head right underneath CJ's chin, and looked about for the smell of food. "Well, oh my, I guess I should... feed you," CJ said. This was certainly NOT what he had expected, but he knew by now what impression felt like and the bond was formed!

Accompanied by the welcoming trills of Yeller and Josiah, CJ walked over to the meat and picked up a bowl for himself and Jase. He had to be careful, as the one he grabbed for Jase soon had little Glory in it, looking for a nice bite sized piece. Handing the other bowl to Jase, he said, "Oh come now, Glory, let me feed you! You'll choke otherwise!" Grabbing the chunk away from the blue, he cut it just a bit smaller with his belt knife and popped it into the waiting maw. Little bugger.

As Mikhael pulled her down, Adrienne didn't protest. After all, it felt like he was saving her from that blasted D'lor, and well, it was nice. Leaning back against his chest she turned to peck him on the cheek lightly before looking down at the egg and bowl he'd placed into her lap. Lynx, always nosing around, peeled away from her neck and sidled down her arm, coming to sit right in front of the bowl of meat. "Ah, Lynx... That isn't for you." The bronze snorted, then eyed her as if to say, "Well, why the hell not?"

It was then that the egg began to crack and wobble, and within a few moments a precious little green appeared, peeping up at her plaintively. Immediately Adrienne pulled her shirt up, wiping the little green dry with it before reaching into the bowl Lynx was sneaking pieces out of. "There you go, darlin'. Such a pretty little girl, aren't you..." Adrienne cooed, breaking off the pieces with her hands then handing them to the green.

Lynx, too, was fascinated by the hatchling... After abandoning the bowl of meat, he moved around Adrienne's lap so that he was sitting right beside the baby, watching her curiously. "I'll call you Cat, because you're the same color of the eyes of one. That's a girl... Eat up, my little Cat." The show of so much affectionate emotion was very unusual for Adrienne and, looking back, some will say this is when they first had a hunch Adrienne was pregnant. Of course, she wasn't showing or anything... It was too early for that. In fact, she'd just learned two weeks before, when a moody Galateath proceeded to ban her from using the steps outside the Weyrs because they weren't safe. What would happen to the baby if she fell? It'd been a shock, yes, but Adrienne made sure to make Galateath promise not to tell a soul... She'd tell Mikhael eventually.

D'lor didn't watch Mikhael greet Adrienne or their sweet embrace... He was too busy watching the blue dragonet that had swiftly claimed his other shoulder and was now poking it's chest out, proud as could be. Laughing slightly, he reached down to grab two plates of food; one for his dragonet and one for the little girl who'd just basically asked for help.

"Here you go, darlin'. Feed little Flop those, and she won't be hungry for very long." Grinning down at her once more before turning to his own hatchling, D'lor reached up and gently grabbed the blue, setting him down on a nearby table. Beside him he put the bowl of meat, and immediately he set about feeding the little beast. Rella, being the spit-fire she was, didn't take kindly to her attention being taken away and as such the gold hopped down from her perch atop D'lor's shoulder and landed beside the blue, hissing furiously. The blue only peeped in response, though, and it confused Rella... who ended up peeping back. D'lor just watched as his pets interacted, a grin spreading across his features at the sight.

It didn't take long for Rella to give up on scaring the blue, and soon she returned to her perch atop D'lor's shoulder, chattering in frustration. Curling her long tail about his bicep, she situated herself and then watched the blue cautiously, and if she could've talked, she would've said, "Well FINE, you can keep him... Just stay on that shoulder. This one's mine."

Once the blue had finished eating, D'lor looked about the room... then spotted N'nyk, one of the good men who came with him. Smiling amicably, the bronze rider strode over and pulled up a chair beside the blue rider, one of those that had been privy to his plans from the very beginning. Leaning back, he looked around at all of the faces of the Oldtimers... the Laughing, smiling faces, and then asked his friend, "D'you think we did the right thing, N'ynk?" After a moment, he held the little blue up to show his companion, "This is Zephyr, by the way."

Ayana caught something from the corner of her eyes as she stumbled in. An egg seemed to rock harder as she got closer.

"What the?" Ayana asked as she stepped closer to the egg till she was close enough to touch it. Then a leg cracked through the shell and another as the egg was propped up. Once the little dragonet finally removed the rest of it's shell the large lime green dragonet stood there and looked like it was thinking. Then with lightning speed the green moved but ayana could not see what was happening for once. After a second of Ayana closing her eyes and putting up her arms to defend herself she heard a hiss and realized that5 something was weighing down on her shoulders. She moved her arms back down to her sides and looked at her shoulders. The lime green that she had just witnessed hatch had picked her! However the green was getting all tangled in Ayana's hair.

"It is alright little one. No one is going to take you from your hair." Ayana said soothingly as she brushed some of her hair out of her face and her new companion's.

"How about we get you something to eat? I need to name you first." Ayana thought about a name as she went and grabbed a bowl of meat. Spring was being a good girl, for once, and was only flying above Ayana's head. Ayana started to feed her new green when a name finally came to her.

"What do you think about Raimu?" Ayana asked the little green who at the new name wound herself tighter into Ayana's hair. "I guess that is a yes but before you don't get cut." Ayana warned. With that Ayana started to feed Raimu and fill the little greens belly.

Alika smiled at Mikhael and took the proffered bowl just as the brown dragonet, maybe a foot long, slid into it hungrily. Laughing, she replied, "I guess you're right, Mikhael. It's always worth it to try." Caressing the brown dragonet where she could, Alika thought how Akamu would have loved a dragonet. He always loved the creatures she worked with and created. He'd have stood for candidacy, but he loved his own work and their daughter more than his chances at bonding with his wife's creations.

While Mahina became excited by the hatching of more babies and her prospects at bonding with one, Alika was preoccupied with memories of her recently deceased husband and feeding her new dragonet. "That's what I shall name you then. Akamu, my precious Akamu." Looking down at her daughter, she smiled to see the little girl bond with a green dragonet. "What will you name your pet, my darling?" Akamu popped his head through the meat he was devouring, chirping happily, before returning to his meal.

N'nyk was enjoying stuffing his new fire...er dragonet to the gills with food. He had heard about the differences of the two species, but really never paid too much attention to them. Bracken's belly was becoming very round with food. As he was feeding his new friend, D'lor came up to him. A fellow future rider.

"Hey there D'lor. That's a cute blue you have there. See my little bronze?" He asked, holding up the almost asleep creature. "What do you mean? Did we do right in coming back? I think so. Why don't you think we did?" He replied.

Was it odd that Keith just happened to be at a nearby table late at night, the night the dragonet and firelizard eggs hatched? No, it really wasn't, because ever since the candidate had found out that there were flitter eggs to be had, he'd staked out the place, because he was determined to get one. Keith wanted a firelizard, he wanted one very much - especially since meeting Marli and Caroline, Zachary's adorable flitters. And so it was most definitely not coincidence that he was here tonight, hoping it'd be the night they hatched.

It was, which, of course, was probably exactly why it was the night he fell asleep at the table.

Typical, really - a watched pot never boils, but the minute you turn your back (or fall asleep, for that matter)...Mhm. He hadn't [i9][meant[/i] to doze, of course, and after waking he wasn't quite sure how it had happened. One moment he was watching the eggs sitting there by the fire, protected by their beautiful mother - or father, in the case of the dragonet eggs - head propped up on his shoulder, and the next he was spiraling into gently, drowsy darkness.

Movements and noises and the babble of voices woke him, and Keith raised his head, blinking blearily and rubbing the sleep out of his face. What...? Ah, man, he'd really fallen asleep? Shells. Then his waking mind took in the crowd of people around the fireplace - where the eggs were - oh, shells. They had to be hatching! No way - he'd spent so much time waiting and then he'd missed it? Oh, he hoped they weren't all gone!

The lad jumped up and hurried over to the crowd, dodging a few small girls and some of those future dragonriders. He spared a glance at the two men; Keith was still amazed that they were here. Time travel! He'd never even imagined it was possible, but the evidence was in front of him and had been for a month. Wow. And they both sported hatchlings - a blue and a bronze. Both dragonets, he noticed. Oh, so m,any of the people here cradled newborn creatures; he hoped he hadn't completely missed it.

No. There was one left. One bluish egg left by the gold firelizard's side. There were also a few dragonet eggs left, too, and he would like to have one of those if he didn't get that firelizard - but he had to admit, he liked the idea of a flitter better. Why, he wasn't quite sure, but he did. "Excuse me, Bronzerider Mikhael?" he piped up, recognizing the dam's owner. "I-is it okay if I try for that last egg?"

Mikhael smiled up at Keith as he piped up and spoke to him; his arms still wrapped around Adrienne's waist he grinned at the lad. "Of course; just make sure Lulu gives her permission first." He had no issues with this young man attempting for one of Lulu's babies and it seemed she didn't have any problems with it either as she rolled the Once in a Blue Moon egg towards the young boy. Whilst the egg shuddered gently it merely split open with little effort truly put into it. Laying within was a rather average looking bronze who really didn't seem willing to move from where he lay and simply with what looked to be such a forced effort from him gave Keith a pitiful cheep.

Max was just wandering down the halls and tunnels, looking for things to sketch, when he found himself at the dining cavern. He peered inside and saw a mass of people and wondered what in the world was going on. So he dodged around a few people, calling "Excuse me" and "pardon me, sorry" as he went. When he got to the front of the crowd he peered down at the eggs lying there.

"Oh, a Dragonet hatching? Thats really cool."

He sat down and begain to sketch the last eggs and some of the hatched dragonets, humming cheerfully as he did so.

Whilst Arturius was tending to the newly minted Lancelot; Myrddin was being the one watching over his eggs and most proud at the attention from the young man sketching them he puffed out his chest and rolled and egg towards him with an assertive chirp. He was positive he wanted him to have the Muddled Thoughts egg. With a nudge and encouragement from it's father the egg wobble and rolled and tumbling from it was a very wet green who in an instant was perched on Max's book chest out looking for all like she was modeling for him.

Max looked up as the egg had rolled towards him, and stopped sketching. When the little Dragonet perched on his book, he burst into chuckling.

"Well, arent you cute, and standing so still, like you wan tme to draw you..."

He sketches the outline quickly and fills in the details. He figures he'll colour it later, after he heads back to his room.
He grabbs a bowl with some meat in it, that had been left on a table and starts to feed the little dragonet.

" your a very good model, Standing so still like that. Hmm, and now you need a name don't you."

He think about it for a few minutes, placing his pencil behind his ear, lokking off into space. His face lights up when he gets a name.

" Aha, your name is going to be, Shinrin! Thats a good name"

Tiaholt was on her way to the Dining Cavern. She quickened her pace towards the cavern knowing the hatching was going to be soon. She made it just in time.....2 dragonet eggs left. She stood there and waited. She was anxious and nervous, she started to bite her nails.

Tia tried to remain focused on the last two eggs and not let her mind wander. Which one will be hers? They both looked lovely . She looked at Lulu, nodded in respect. She sighed. How much longer? She shifted herself and sat down...too excited to stand. SHe felt special that she chosen to observe this spactular event of dragnets being born. It would be the most beautiful thing on the face of Pern! She smiled as she -sat-and waited for the blessed event to take place.

It was the Pebble egg that rocked under Tiaholt's gaze; it's rocking seemed to intensify as Tiaholt's excitement did rocking under her gaze until in one bright and bold move a green shot clear of the shell that confined her in a long line she seemed to spring like a concettina into Tia's chest winding her way around the girl's arm she snuggled up close to her.
