Description: Ai'ri has unusual hair, of a color that isn't quite red and isn't quite brown but instead a nice rusty color in between (When wet it appears dark auburn). It is mostly straight with a hint of a wave to it, and is kept down to around the middle of his neck. He has bangs that wave enough on either side to present an off-centered part on his forehead. On the rare occasion he cuts his hair to keep it neat his bangs are short and expose forehead that those who are used to seeing him with bangs can find disconcerting. Usually though they brush his eyebrows; it's only when they start to obscure his vision that he gives in and cuts them.

His eyes are a light brown like milk chocolate, and because of their color often seem flat, except in certain lighting - or, in some cases, depending on the viewer. Above them rest eyebrows matching his hair color, and between, a long, straight nose. All in all his face is a pleasant one to look upon, and he could be considered handsome. His face has a bit of a soft look, the angles of his jaw and cheekbones more subtle than many, and this gives him a younger appearance; however in his eyes and in his expression you can see the sign of his true age. The only thing that detracts from his looks in that way is a pale red scar on his forehead, though it is usually hidden by his hair; not because he feels the need to hide it, precisely, merely that that's the way he likes to wear his hair and that's how he wore it before he got the scar.

His body is slim, a bit soft-looking but hiding strength. He isn't necessarily muscular, but he does have the strength to hold his own in a fight - as he has done before. marks of such fights exist in the way of various scars on his body; the biggest being one on his leg, one on his arm, and a slice across his left hand, which makes it stiff but doesn't impair use of that hand. Couple that with the two burn marks he retains and it's obvious this man has been through some hard times, and survived.

Personality: Ai'ri is a level-headed, straight-forward person. He is thoughtful and takes things seriously. He has a sense of humor too, don't get him wrong, and is sometimes easy-going and fun to be around, but as soon as something bad happens, Ai'ri's at the center of the matter, taking it seriously and trying to find a solution. He often does this by working with his brown, Tairith, to come up with something.

Ai'ri is a natural leader. Organized and levelheaded, calm and comforting, he is a good person to look up to in times of trouble. He is good at staying calm in an emergency, and at calming others. His very presence radiates experience and the sense that everything will turn out all right.

And, Ai'ri is a natural romantic. He stops to admire the beautiful things - he particularly likes watching the sunrise. He also likes music and poetry and probably could have been a relatively good harper if his feet had ever been set down that path.

Ai'ri has little ambition, and often has a guilt factor. He's often worrying about hurting those he loves, or feeling responsible if they do get hurt, whether it's his fault or not. Over the years he's managed to get over some of this tendency, but is still inclined to blame himself if his family or anyone else under his care is hurt. On the same vein, he's intensely caring of his family, and though in general he is something of a pacifist is quite willing to defend them if need be - and he has, quite a few times.


History: Ai'ri, born Aialri, was born to two holders in Southern Boll Hold. They were a pretty average family, with average wealth and average luxury. Aialri had two older siblings, Galen and Evera. His brother Galen was 10 Turns old, his sister Evera 3. Aialri didn't get on very well with his brother, and they rarely spoke. But he took a liking to Evera, and for a while they were best friends.

When Aialri was 8 Turns old, a drastic thing happened to the family. Galen was in the kitchen with their mother, while Aialri and Evera were playing in the common room. From what Aialri heard later, Galen tripped over a dropped kettle and bumped into his mother, who dropped the lantern she was holding onto the wood floor. All hell broke loose. Their mother managed to get out of the kitchen and thought Galen was right behind her. She grabbed Evera and Aialri and ran out, calling to their father, who was in the backyard fixing something.

It was only then that they realized Galen was still inside. Evera was faint with terror, and their mother and father didn't know how to get inside without being burned, because everything was on fire that was big enough for them to pass through. While everyone was wondering what to do, Aialri slipped inside through a child-sized gap that even then caught the arm of his tunic on fire (he hastily stamped it out, but not before gaining a burn on his arm), and got to the kitchen, where his brother lay, half-conscious and choking on smoke. Aialri managed to support his teenage brother, though he could barely hold him up, and dragged him back through the inferno, making it outside.

His brother had very bad burns, and the next few weeks were spent with a household friend, tending to Galen's burns. Aialri stayed by his brother's side the whole time.

After that, they shared a much closer relationship. Galen was very grateful to his little brother for saving him, and was no longer standoffish towards him. For ten more years, they lived together in harmony, in the newly-built house their father and friends had made.

Then Galen went to work at a different hold, while 18 Turn old Aialri was left to help his mother and 21 Turn old sister take care of the place while his father worked in the fields outside the hold, his new chosen profession. Aialri was just finding a place for him to settle down and start working, when a Bluerider came and Searched him. He went to a Weyr and managed to Impress to a brown named Tairith, becoming Ai'ri. He and Tairith went through Weyrlinghood together with little incident, though each new moment with the brown was a wonderful new experience for Ai'ri.

Several Turns after Impressing Tairith, Ai'ri met a beautiful young woman named Lerato, and they quickly fell in love. It soon became apparent to him that Lerato was who he wanted to spend his life with. But very soon after meeting, she Impressed to a green dragon - a very rare thing for a woman to do, and both her age at Impression and the fact she'd Impressed a green, named Nikiath, made her unique. However it also meant that for another Turn, until Nikiath was mature, they could not be together.

It was a hard Turn of waiting, for both of them. During the time period Ai'ri was promoted to Assistant Weyrlingmaster, and helped the Weyrlingmaster with the lessons. But when the dragons were learning how to chew firestone, there was an accident; one dragon hit Ai'ri across the shoulder, leaving a bad burn there. It wouldn't have been very bad, however, if it hadn't been for the infection that had set in, one that spread and became almost deadly. And Ai'ri did almost die - had it not been for Lerato's presence, the thingthat gave him the will to live, he may not have made it. It's a hard memory for him - for them both - and he tries not to think about it or bring it up.

After a Turn, Nikiath was grown and any restrictions fell. Ai'ri and Lerato moved in together, and it wasn't too long before the news came - Lerato was pregnant. They bore their first child when Ai'ri was about 25, a boy they christened Ailer. A few more Turns brought them a second child, a girl that they named Lea (pronounced Lee). Having children was another amazing experience, one he hasn't quite gotten used to even after seven Turns of it! But he wouldn't change one day of it.

Though Ai'ri is for the most part a pacifist, during the Turns since Lerato Impressed he learned how to hold his own in a fight. She being the only female that Impressed on that hatching, and one of the only female greenriders, she was often given a hard time for it - in more ways than one. Ai'ri would not let such things happen to his love, and soon enough gained a reputation as her protector, one he did not dispute.

The relative peace was shattered in the form of a plague that swept the continent. Many fell ill and died from it, and Ai'ri was in constant terror that Lerato and his children would catch it as well; thankfully though none of their family was maimed by the disease. A vaccine was finally developed, but by then the population was already diminished largely. It was remembered that a plague of the same kind had occurred back in the Turn 16AL, severely diminishing the population of that time as well. It was hoped that if they could go back in time and vaccinate the early Pernese before it happened, then the disaster then (and hopefully the return of it in their time) would not occur. Ten dragonriders were picked to travel back in time to deliver these vaccinations, and Lerato and Ai'ri were both selected. Now they - and Ailer and Lea - are on their way back to the earliest days of Pern.

Description:Ice is aptly named - he is a very light white-blue, like ice over water, with flashes of a very light sea-green on his wings, and pure white speckled near his eyes, giving him an almost bespectacled look that is rather comical. He is lean and lengthy, with wings slightly narrower than usual, but also longer, sothat while he doesn't have the strength or sails to fly as high as other flitters, he can make some rather amazing turns and dips, as his lean wings add to his agility. His tail is long and whip-like, and the overall impression is a very slim, fit firelizard.

In miniature. While his wings may be longer than usual, and his tail long for his body...it's allpretty small. He barely goes from Ai'ri's hand to forearm, and that's if he stretched tight.


Personality:Ice is, not dumb, exactly, but very easily distracted. If you can keep him focused, you'd see that he is a very affectionate, loyal, reliable flitter, and pretty crafty too, but that's only if you can keep his from chasing any wherry that flies past, or going after every shiny thing he sees. This has, unfortunately, gotten him into some bad scrapes...like the one time he was distracted by a dragon's faceted eye...Ai'ri's Tairith, in fact. If the Brownrider hadn't been there to save him, the blue flitter would have been no more.

He love playing with Ai'ri's children, and gives them a constant companion. Maybe the dinky blue can't quite be trusted to keep them safe, he does provide much entertainment.

Description: Tairith is a light chocolate brown, with tints of handsome, deep brown running along his wings. He is of fairly average size, and has no blemishes apart from a long scar running down his tail - the result of a badly-judged fight as a dragonet.

Detailed Personality: Tairith is much like his rider - calm, thoughtful, and level-headed. He likes to relax and converse with others, but is also the first to try and come up with a solution to any problem. He has a close bond with His, and even likes their flitter, Ice - though the little thing is annoying at times. Mostly just amusing.

Tairith is very tolerable. He is proud as well, and will not back down when someone insults him or his rank, but he will not usually get into any scraps - not after the one time, as a dragonet, he got into a fight with an Obsidian over Who's was better, and ended up with a scar running down his tail. After that, he thinks seriously about any skirmishes before he gets into them. And because of this, he is also very good at realizing problems or potential disasters. This might make him seem like he is pessimistic about things, seeing the downside of every idea, but he isn't - he's just weighing it top see if the pros are more numerous than the cons.
